Since its inception in 2006, the Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO) has commissioned Thematic Reviews to examine past practices and promising innovations in specific areas of peacebuilding, and to reflect on the performance of the Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) as part of its commitment to continuous learning.

This Thematic Review on Climate-Security and Peacebuilding is commissioned in partnership with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the Climate Security Mechanism (CSM). The objective of this Review is to examine global trends and approaches to sustaining peace through climate security efforts, and to take stock of climate security projects funded by the PBF (particularly those with FAO, UNICEF and the UN Development Programme as implementing agencies) with the purpose of understanding good practices and areas for programming improvement, assessing results and lessons-learned, and guiding future investments in climate-security.

This project continues to build on UNU-CPR’s past work in the climate-security and peacebuilding field, a priority area within the Conflict Prevention and Sustaining Peace pillar.
